US comedian Ellen DeGeneres has revealed when her final ever TV appearance will be.
The formerly beloved US chat show star has revealed the date of her final TV appearance after being rocked by several scandals over the last few years, which first began after she was called out during a now-infamous interview by actress Dakota Johnson.
The former talk show host took to Instagram on Friday to announce that her last-ever TV appearance would be her upcoming comedy special.
According to Ellen, 66, the Netflix-sponsored special would also take place on the anniversary of her marriage to Portia de Rossi.
“I will be celebrating my 16th wedding anniversary on the 16th of August in Minneapolis filming my final Netflix special,” wrote the comedian on Instagram next to several photos of the couple.
“What a day!!! I’m so lucky to be loved by the most amazing person I’ve ever met.”
She concluded: “I love you Portia. You’re my everything.”
Ellen’s statement comes a month after the comedian started cancelling several shows of her “comeback tour” without any explanation.
After announcing the tour in April 2024, Ellen added several more stops due to popular demand.By the end of May, it was reported that the comedian had booked over 20 cities.
However, Ticketmaster soon revealed that Ellen had cancelled four of the upcoming shows.
News of her Netflix stand-up special broke in May, as DeGeneres shared the following statement at the time regarding the special, implying that she won’t be shying away from discussing the allegations, per Variety: “To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special.”
During a Q&A session following a stand-up performance in April, DeGeneres reflected on how her show ended, deeming its demise “devastating.”
“I just hated the way the show ended,” she lamented, per Rolling Stone. “I love that show so much, and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.”
