New Ellen DeGeneres sighting angers internet

Ellen and Portia were captured on camera visiting Paris from their new home in the UK last week, walking into an exclusive event for the luxury brand RH on the famed Champs-Élysées.

A short clip posted online shows the couple entering the event, with minders and security guards around them.

Another couple, who appear to be tourists stopping to look at the event, suddenly get hustled out of the way by the security so that Ellen and Portia can walk by.

The path was wide and there were few people around, so many online questioned the need to move two mere mortals out of the way just so that two very rich celebrities didn’t need to walk half a metre around them.

Both Ellen and Portia appeared unfussed or unaware that the couple had been pushed out of the way for them, smiling serenely as they entered the party.

French celeb-spotting account Pure People posted the moment to their Instagram account, where it has attracted more than 8,000 comments – most of them negative. 

“This was an embarrassing moment,” read one top-rated comment

“How dare they push people aside like that,” read another.

“Rehabbing her public image by shoving pedestrians out of her way. Solid pr,” wrote another, referring to the PR nightmare that was the end of Ellen’s long-running talk show.

“Why did they feel the need to push people out of the way?” another person asked.

Another suggested that if the celeb couple “just walked through the crowd like normal people they would be in no danger because not a soul would notice them.”

Meanwhile, DeGeneres copped a serve from another talk show legend and fellow comic, Rosie O’Donnell, during a recent interview on the No Filter with Kate Langbroek podcast.

Langbroek asked O’Donnell about her falling out with DeGeneres, something she’s been open about in the past.

O’Donnell explained that she’d considered the pair close friends – until she watched DeGeneres during a 2004 appearance on The Larry King Show. 

“And he asked her, ‘What ever happened to Rosie O’Donnell? Her show went down the tubes,’” O’Donnell recalled.

“And Ellen said, ‘I don’t know Rosie. We’re not friends.’ And that was one of the most painful things that ever happened to me in show business and my life. I couldn’t believe it.”

Ellen and wife Portia left the US for a new life in the UK last year – but Ellen is facing some fresh legal troubles back in her home country.

According to court documents obtained by People, a woman is suing DeGeneres for negligence, alleging that she ignored a stop sign that led to an October 2023 traffic incident that saw her crash into the side of the plaintiff’s car.
