1 year oldSelena Gomez defended her BFF Taylor Swift after a video showing Hailey Bieber gagging upon hearing the “All Too Well” singer’s name resurfaced on TikTok.
“So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” Gomez, 30, commented on the post, reports Page Six.
The video, posted by @duckcopycat0, shows Bieber, 26, co-hosting Drop the Mic when Method Man seemingly references Swift’s 2017 album, Reputation.
“[Celebrities will perform] a one-on-one rap battle full of the meanest lyrics about a celebrity since Taylor Swift’s last album,” the rapper, 51, said in the resurfaced clip.
Upon hearing Swift’s name, the Rhode Skin founder immediately opened her mouth and gestured her pointer finger toward the centre of it. She then shrugged her shoulders and continued looking straight-faced into the camera.
“THISS is real Hailey ‘Bieber’ mean girl // matona [Spanish for ‘bully’] / A Bully,” the TikToker wrote atop of the viral video on Wednesday, adding snake emojis in the caption.
Neither Bieber nor Swift, 33, has addressed the post.
It’s unclear when the episode aired, but Bieber co-hosted Drop the Mic from October 2017 to March 2019. She didn’t appear to be wearing an engagement ring at the time, which Gomez’s ex Justin Bieber gave her in July 2018, so the scene was likely filmed early on in the competition show’s three-season run.
It doesn’t appear Hailey and Swift had a public feud during that time frame, but the model previously insinuated that she was not the Grammy winner’s biggest fan when she shaded Swift’s girl squad — which includes Gomez — in a 2016 interview.
“I don’t understand the Taylor Swift squad at all,” Hailey told Yahoo Be at the time. “I don’t know what having a squad means. I don’t think that you need to create a public squad. I don’t know what that proves, so I don’t really understand the Taylor Swift squad at all.”
Gomez famously dated Justin, 28, on and off for eight years. The pop stars broke up for good in March 2018, just months before Justin and Hailey got engaged.
Despite years of feud rumours between her and the Only Murders in the Building actress, Hailey said once and for all in September 2022 that she has no bad blood with her now-husband’s former girlfriend.
“It’s all respect. It’s all love,” she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast, also denying past allegations that she had stolen Justin from Gomez.
The ladies seemingly confirmed Hailey’s comments when they were photographed grinning from ear to ear together at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ second annual gala last October.
However, their status may have changed since, with Gomez and Hailey throwing shade at each other on social media in recent weeks.
Most recently, Hailey and her close friend Kylie Jenner were accused of mocking Gomez on TikTok, but both Jenner, 25, and the Disney Channel alum shut down the “silly” chatter.
