8 year oldAccording to NBC, a source claims LA police responded to a medical welfare call at 8.20am (AEDT).
TMZ reports paramedics also responded, and ended up transporting West to the hospital via ambulance.
Sources told the media outlet that the rapper was getting checked by doctors for severe sleep deprivation when it was decided he needed to be admitted.
It’s also been reported no criminal activity was involved and the decision was made for his own health and safety.
Earlier today, West’s wife Kim Kardashian was seen boarding a private jet at a Los Angeles airport, ahead of an appearance at a gala event in New York honouring her late father, Robert Kardashian.
The event was supposed to mark her first official appearance since she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in October.
It follows days of erratic behaviour, during which West ranted onstage about Jay-Z and Beyonce and walked offstage after just three songs.
Just 48 hours later, his rep told E! News: “The remaining dates on the Saint Pablo Tour have been cancelled. Tickets will be fully refunded at point of purchase.”
Concerts were scheduled in Fresno, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, and other cities through to the end of the year.
Over the weekend, West performed just three songs in Sacramento before berating other artists and Hillary Clinton, and cutting the performance short — and that was after showing up an hour and a half late — according to reports and video posted on social media.
“Get ready to have a field day, press, because the show’s over,” West said, during the gig.
According to the Sacramento Bee, fans who had paid big bucks for tickets and merchandise left the venue chanting and swearing at the rapper.
West reportedly came on stage close to two hours late and then only performed three songs — repeating one — before launching into an epic rant suggesting Beyonce’s Formation win at the MTV Video Music Awards was rigged.
“Beyonce, I was hurt,” West said.
“I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and [Drake’s] Hotline Bling,” he said.
He then backtracked. “In my opinion — now don’t go dissing Beyoncé, she’s great. Taylor Swift is great. We are all great people. But sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forget who we are — just to win,” West added.
“F**k winning, f**k looking cool, f**k being cool.”
He also went off on Jay Z asking the rapper to call him and talk to him “like a man.”.
“Jay Z, I know you got killas. Please don’t send them at my head. Just call me — talk to me like I man,” he said.
After telling the audience he is “just a man ... the same as everybody here,” West added: “This is the future. This is the way of thinking to make America great again.”
This was met by boos, but West wasn’t bothered: “You don’t like that. Guess what? Y’all need the vibes. I was hurt. Feelings matter, bro. The way motherf****** put money up so high. Popularity. Radio spins. Feelings matter, bro.
“It’s a new world, Hillary Clinton. It’s a new world. Feelings matter. Because guess what? Everybody in Middle America felt a way, and they showed you how they felt ... It’s a new world Barack. It’s a new world Jay Z.”
West added: “If you keep following old models, your a** is going to get Hillary Clinton’d.
“I ain’t here to massage you with the fake truth, telling you that Hillary going to win over and over and over. Then you wake up and you still can’t believe it. You know why? Because you was lied to by Google. You was lied to by Mark Zuckerberg.”
More to come.
