ELLEN DeGeneres was invited to the White House to receive an award but when she arrived she wasn’t allowed in.

The talk show host was one of 21 people being awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom along with stars including Robert De Niro, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks.

But there was a slight hiccup which Ellen revealed on social media.

“They haven’t let me in to the White House yet because I forgot my ID,” Ellen tweeted.

She attached a photo of herself sitting outside on a park bench and included the hashtags: #NotJoking and #PresidentialMedalOfFreedom.

Once Ellen was given the all clear to enter the White House, she made the most of the star-studded ceremony and got everyone to freeze for a mannequin challenge [a viral internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a video is recorded].
