Gabby Douglas Will Be Fine — But Here's Why She Wasn't at the VMAs

The Final Five appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards last night to present the Best Female Video Award to Beyoncé. The girls traded bedazzled leotards for bedazzled cocktail dresses and tight buns for flowing locks, but brought the infectious smiles America has fallen WAY in love with all month long. But one key person was missing: Gabby Douglas.

An hour before the gymnasts made their appearance on MTV's white carpet, Gabby posted an Instagram of herself lying in bed.

"Out of the hospital & resting comfortably!" she wrote, adding that she was "so sad" to miss the opportunity to attend the VMAs.

While Gabby's mention of a hospital sounded super scary, it turns out that she's actually going to be totally fine.

"She had an allergic reaction, but she's doing okay," Aly told ET last night. "Something was a little swollen on her face. They're having her rest, just in case."

Laurie explained, "It's a little bit swollen, but we hope she can get better soon because we wish she could be here with us."

And in the understatement of the millennium, Madison added, "She definitely wanted to be here."

It sucks that she had to skip the event, but it sounds like she's going to be back in fighting shape ASAP! And anyway, Gabby already had the most incredible time at the VMAs four years ago, back when she and Alicia Keys high-fived on stage.
