Partner A$AP Rocky confirmed the couple are expecting baby No. 3 as he walked the Met steps solo before the superstar's "fashionably late" arrival.
After debuting her second pregnancy during her Super Bowl halftime performance in 2023, Rihanna chose another star-studded moment to announce her third.
The superstar got the internet buzzing on Monday as she was spotted with a baby bump when arriving at her New York hotel to get ready for the Met Gala; partner A$AP Rocky, who arrived ahead of Rihanna, confirmed to reporters that baby No. 3 in on the way. The couple, who have been together since 2020, are already parents to sons RZA Athelston Mayers and Riot Rose Mayers.
The two have become Met Gala staples over the years, frequently closing down the carpet with their best-dressed looks. A$AP Rocky is also one of this year’s Met Gala co-chairs, alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour and honorary chair LeBron James. This year’s Met Gala theme celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is on view from May 10 to Oct. 26.
This year marked a return to the Met Gala carpet after Rihanna had to miss last year’s event after coming down with the flu. A$AP Rocky — who said that he thought he “was being pranked at first” when Anna Wintour asked him to co-chair, and chose to wear a look he personally designed — told The Hollywood Reporter that his counterpart would be “fashionably late,” hence their separate arrival.
“It feels amazing, you know,” Rocky said of their third on the way, per the Associated Press. “It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know.”
He continued, “Honestly, it’s a blessing nonetheless. Because you know how like some people in other situations at times can be envious of other people. But we’ve been seeing love for the most part. And we real receptive to that and appreciate that, you know what I mean? That’s love. Love is love.”
