6 year oldIN a place like Hollywood where it seems most marriages are lucky to last a year, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are a rare success story.
But the couple admit their 21-year marriage hasn’t always been easy, opening up about their struggles in a joint appearance on Pinkett Smith’s Facebook Watch TV show Red Table Talk.
In a preview for an upcoming episode, an emotional Smith told daughter Willow and Pinkett Smith’s mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones about their biggest rough patch.
“There was a period where mummy woke up and cried for 45 days straight. I started keeping a diary,” the Men in Black star confessed.
“You missed some days,” Pinkett Smith added with a laugh.
“It was every morning. I think that’s the worst I’ve ever felt in our marriage,” Smith said. “I was failing miserably.”
The couple have spoken candidly about their relationship struggles in the past, with Smith saying earlier this year it has only made their relationship stronger.

“We don’t even say we’re married anymore. We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realise you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life,” he earlier told Tidal’s Rap Radar podcast.
“There are no deal-breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever. Nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support ’til death and it feels so good to get to that space.”
While the couple have denied rumours that they have an open relationship, Pinkett Smith admitted last year their relationship was unusual.
“People have to be married in a way that works. As couples, we really do have to see what is best for us,” she told UK talk show Lorraine.
The couple are parents to 20-year-old Jaden and 17-year-old Willow, while Will has a 25-year-old son, Trey, from his first marriage.
