Harvey Weinstein wants reform after Kalief Browder series
The Weinstein Company previously distributed “Fruitvale Station,” the 2013 biographical film about Oscar Grant, an unarmed black man shot and killed in 2009 by a Bay Area Rapid Transit officer in Oakland.
Jay Z was also behind the 2017 “TIME: The Kalief Browder Story,” a six-part miniseries about the Bronx high school student who was imprisoned for three years — including two in solitary confinement at Rikers — without a trial after being accused of stealing a backpack.
He committed suicide two years after his release.
