Ashanti handles baby duties as Nelly jokes he’s leaving her with all the responsibilities in a new episode of their reality show.

Ashanti has revealed she doesn't understand how Nelly can sleep through their infant son crying at night.

During a recent segment on their new show Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together, the couple discussed Nelly's upcoming tour and how Ashanti would be spending more time at home with their infant son as a result. While navigating the challenges of new parenthood, Ashanti playfully called out her husband for sleeping through the baby's cries at night.

"It's just with the baby it's a lot," said Ashanti. "I'm trying to understand how is it that you sleep through when he starts crying?"

Nelly replied, "Do y'all really be up at night? I heard about it."

In one scene, Nelly told Jermaine Dupri and several others that he's not changing any diapers, and until the baby is able to walk and talk on its own, Ashanti will be doing most of the parenting.

"Cause once he get to walking and talking, he with the crew," said Nelly in the archival clip.

Nelly and Ashanti expanded on their parenting skills in an interview with TheShadeRoom where the rapper admitted he's on "cruise control" when it comes to children. However, he made sure to reiterate that he fully supports Ashanti with whatever she needs to help care for their son.

"Just watching her go through it, I know what this truly meant to her. I know she always wanted kids, and I know when you're in this business, sometimes timing can not work, and some artists have gone their whole lives through this business and never get a chance to see that or experience that."

He added, "She knows I'm here. She knows she has the support. She knows whatever she needs, I provide, and that includes nannies."
