6 year oldRAPPER Jay-Z has opened up about his marriage to his superstar wife Beyoncé — and revealed why they chose to save their relationship, instead of get divorced, after he was caught cheating.
According to The Sun, the 99 Problems hit maker opened up during a recent interview on CNN, where he declared he and Beyoncé had chosen to “fight for our love.”
He said: “She’s my soulmate, the person I love.
“For us, we chose to fight for our love. For our family. To give our kids a different outcome. To break that cycle for black men and women.”
Jay-Z added that the key to working through marital difficulties, regardless of their fame, is having “the tools to move forward”.
He added: “We were never a celebrity couple — we were a couple that happened to be celebrities. We are real people.”
Rumours about Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s marriage began swirling after leaked CCTV footage showed Beyoncé’s sister, Solange Knowles, kicking the rapper in an elevator after the Met Ball.
Beyoncé went on to release her album Lemonade, in which she dropped hints that the couple had hit a rocky patch in their marriage.
In his latest album, Jay-Z addressed the marital issues in the track 4:44.
He rapped: “I apologise often womanise/ Took for my child to be born/ See through a woman’s eyes/ Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles/ Took me too long for this song/ I don’t deserve you.”
The superstars welcomed their first child, daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012.
It was announced that Beyoncé had given birth to twins on June 18 2017, with later reports suggesting the babies had been born prematurely a week before.
Jay-Z first admitted to the affair in a 2017 interview with the New York Times.
While discussing psychotherapy, he made his admission of “infidelity.”
He said: “You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode what happens?
“You shut down all emotions. So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect.
“In my case, like it’s, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: Infidelity.”
