6 year oldTERRY Bryant, the man who allegedly stole Frances McDormand’s Academy Award, posted a disturbing video on Facebook claiming he’d won the Oscar.
And it’s not the first time he’s pretended to take home an award.
In an Instagram post from a month ago, he holds up a statuette and says: “I proclaim it in Jesus’s name. My SAG Award.” And in another post: “2018 SAG Awards. Thank you Lord God for your many blessing and favour.”
In an Instagram post from June, he holds up MTV’s popcorn trophy, saying: “It was awesome at the 2017 MTV Awards.”
Bryant has also gotten his paws on an Oscar before. He posted an image of himself holding up a statuette from last year’s Vanity Fair party.
The theft of McDormand’s Oscar is just the latest in this troubling pattern of behaviour.
From the looks of his social media, Bryant has also attended the Grammys, BET Awards and Golden Globes. His posts heavily feature celebrities. “One of my favourite photos of me and my lifelong friend Beyonce,” says one of him on the carpet with the singer.
Other celebs he’s posed with include Mariah Carey, Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton, Robert Pattinson and Tom Cruise.
Bryant was arrested on Monday night on suspicion of felony grand theft, with bail set at $25,700. He allegedly swiped McDormand’s Oscar off her table at the Governors Ball at the Ray Dolby Ballroom, which police say Bryant did have a ticket to.
“What’s up babies, look at baby, my team got this tonight, this is mine,” he says in a Facebook video uploaded on Monday. “Who wants to tell me congratulations?” he asks as guests pat him on the back. The video continues with Bryant asking about the evening’s parties. “This is mine! Where’s the Jimmy Kimmel party at? I am about to go to so many parties ... I can’t believe I got this. It’s for music.”
