8 year oldLady Gaga will join the ranks of the most illustrious, or at least most-watched, musicians on earth next year when she performs at halftime of Super Bowl LI in Houston.
Ms. Gaga performed the national anthem at the Super Bowl earlier this year, a well-received performance that served as a de facto audition for the primetime slot. US Weekly reported on Sunday afternoon that her long-rumored headlining spot was indeed coming to pass. The halftime show consistently draws well over 100 million U.S. viewers, making it by far the most-watched musical performance of any given year.
No word yet on whether Gaga will have other musicians in tow, as Beyonce did earlier this year with Coldplay or Bruno Mars did with the Red Hot Chili Peppers a couple years back. It’s likely she’ll have some accompaniment, since halftime show organizers try to appeal to every possible demographic, but Gaga will surely have a good 10 minutes all to herself. Heaven only knows what she’ll do with them.
