3 year oldNFL legend Shannon Sharpe has produced one of the most wild moments of TV this year — and one of the most intriguing.
The popular TV host appeared to call up Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones in the middle of a segment discussing the Falcons star’s uncertain future.
The New York Post reports Sharpe asked Jones point-blank about the rumours of him wanting out of Atlanta.
The casual nature of the bombshell dropped by Jones suggests he was completely unaware he was speaking to an audience of millions.
It has since emerged that the show may have violated Californian state law if Jones did not fact now know he was speaking on live TV.
“Nah, I’m out of there, man,” Jones said to Sharpe’s question about staying in Atlanta.
“Right now, I want to win.”
When Sharpe told him not to go to the Cowboys, because he wouldn’t win there, he said: “C’mon, man, you already know I know. … I ain’t going to Dallas. I never thought about going to them.”
NFL Network reported Jones requested a trade from the Falcons “a few months ago.” Atlanta is asking for a first-round pick from interested teams, per ESPN.
Once the news spread across the internet with lightning speed, the Falcons responded to the statement by simply repeating Jones’ comments, leaving the team a laughing stock on social media.
Sharpe’s co-host Skip Bayless, a Cowboys fan, went from excited to downtrodden during the phone call on live TV. He probably wasn’t the only one. Falcons and Cowboys fans couldn’t have been happy to hear what Jones had to say either.
There was a report by NBC Sports Boston that Jones wants to play for the Patriots and team up with Cam Newton. The 32-year-old wide-out is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection who has led the NFL in receiving yards twice, in 2015 and 2018.
