A college football player in America has died suddenly. Tributes have poured in including from his team.

College football is in mourning following the death of star William Davis.
The Sam Houston State University defensive back passed away suddenly aged just 22.

Tributes have poured in for Davis since the school announced his death.
“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Will Davis,” head football coach Phil Longo said in a statement.
“Will was a beloved member of our Bearkat football family here at Sam Houston who touched the lives of everyone he knew.
“Will was an upbeat, positive, passionate young man who will be sincerely missed. Tanya, the kids and I are praying for Will’s family during this difficult time.”
Davis’ cause of death has not been confirmed.
There has been an outpour of love shown to him with many sharing condolences.One friend wrote: “Amazing human, rest peacefully Will.”
Another said: “Devastating news today as Will Davis has passed away.
“Prayers to his family and the entire Sam Houston football team during this time.”
A third commented: “Love you forever brotha you hurt me dearly with this. Never seen you not smiling you was the LIFE of the team.”
Davis starred in three seasons with Virginia Union from 2022-24, a Division II HBCU program.
He then transferred to West Virginia for the 2025 season but played in just one game - the Mountaineers’ season-opening win over Robert Morris - before moving to Sam Houston State in January.
