A video has resurfaced of Conor McGregor saying he wanted to beat up Sean “Diddy” Combs at an event they both attended back in the day.
In the decade-old clip filmed for Ireland’s The Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy, the UFC champ recalled his first ever meeting with the rap mogul was icy, to say the least.
The pair took a photo the year prior with fellow UFC star Michael Bisping, which McGregor had posted and captioned “Me, P. Diddy and Big Mike!!!”
But it seems their smiles were all for show as the rapper apparently did not care to pose for the pic.
“P. Diddy’s a little up his own ass, to be honest,” McGregor told host Tubridy in the 2014 interview, during which the photo of the trio flashed on screen.
“We were at a college-football game - UCLA. But he is, you know, he didn’t even want to get in the picture. He barely shook my hand. I was about to give him just a left to the chin.”
McGregor recalled being left confused because he believed Hollywood stars were all about their meet-and-greets.
“This is LA, isn’t it? You just go around meeting people. I’m just having fun,” the Irish fighter said.
“P. Diddy’s on the bottom of the list of people I wanted to meet, especially after finally meeting him.”
McGregor was an up-and-coming fighter at the time and he went on to be crowned UFC Featherweight Champion of the World two years after his meeting with the Bad Boystar.
The resurfaced video has since gone viral days after Diddy was arrested in New York for sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Diddy is currently on suicide watch after being denied bail following his arrest on Monday.
Sources told People magazine that the decision was made for “preventive measures as he is in shock and his mental state is unclear”.
However, a spokesperson for the star insists that he is not in any danger of self-harm.
“Mr Combs is strong, healthy and focused on his defence,” the rep told Billboard.
“He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth.”
Diddy has been denied bail by two judges and remains at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn. He is currently facing up to life in prison for three felonies.
