Lil Nas X facing years in prison after alarming public outburst

The US rapper, 26, was hospitalised and later arrested after he was found roaming LA’s Ventura Boulevard wearing only underwear and white cowboy boots around 4am last Thursday.

He was later seen stripping naked, per a video taken by a member of the public, before police arrived where Lil Nas is alleged to have charged at them, injuring at least three officers.

The Grammy winner has since been charged with four serious offences, including three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest, according to TMZ.

Lil Nas, real name Montero Lamar Hill, was held without bail at the weekend until he could appear before a judge Monday morning, local time.

The singer was arraigned in the Los Angeles Superior Court, where his bail was set at $US75,000, according to CBS.

The incident made headlines last week as videos emerged of Lil Nas appearing disoriented, walking the famous boulevard naked and brandishing a traffic cone on his head.

Officers arrived after receiving multiple calls, with officer Drake Madison saying Lil Nas charged at them when they got to the scene.

He was first taken to a local hospital after police feared he was under the influence of substances.

In the days leading up to the outburst, the rapper had taken to Instagram with a series of bizarre social media posts.

Nearly a dozen posts shared last week showed the star’s belongings piled up and scattered throughout his home. In one video, he wore a robe with cowboy boots and carried a tambourine while singing.

In another post, Lil Nas captioned a selfie, “OH NO sHES GONE MAD! CRAZY I TELL U!”

Meanwhile, Lil Nas was expected to release his much-anticipated second studio album Dreamboylater this year, which comes four years after his breakthrough debut Montero.
