1 year oldOprah Winfrey gave her two cents on whether or not Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should attend King Charles’ coronation on May 6.
The talk show queen, 69, sat down with her friend Gayle King on US program CBSMornings to weigh in on the subject, New York Post reports.
“Do you think they should go, do you think they should not go? Is it something you’d like to comment on? I’m listening,” King, 68, asked.
“I think they should do what they feel is best for them and their family. That’s what I think,” Winfrey said.
“That’s what the bottom line comes down to: ‘What do you feel like is the right thing for you?’”
Oprah was also quick to note that she hasn’t spoken to the couple regarding their coronation attendance.
“They haven’t asked me my opinion,” she said.
Winfrey attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 wedding and King made an appearance at Meghan’s baby shower in 2019.
Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, also gave an explosive interview in 2021 to Winfrey following their exit from royal life one year earlier.
There has been much speculation in recent months whether Prince Harry and the former actress would be invited to the coronation ceremony, set to take place coincidentally on their son Archie’s fourth birthday.
It has since been suggested that Harry may go to the event alone, as Meghan, won’t be “brave or strong enough” to show her face, according to the late Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell.
The former royal staffer also said King Charles has “retained the moral high ground” by inviting the pair to the coronation.
“It’s likely to be incredibly uncomfortable for them if they attend, particularly Meghan,” he told Closer magazine. “Are they prepared to face the music?”
“[Meghan will] have to look in the eyes of a family she’s pushed under the bus,” he said.
“But I think Harry may come alone and she’s probably told him she won’t be able to be by his side with him if he does attend.”
Amid the crowning drama, the Duchess of Sussex recently filed to relaunch her old lifestyle blog, The Tig. The site was initially closed down before her marriage to Harry in 2017.
The updated website will now reportedly feature articles about food, travel, relationships, fashion, interior design, health and more. A relaunch date for the site has yet to be announced.
