Khloe Kardashian has been hounded on social media following the death of OJ Simpson over a conspiracy theory that will not go away.
Khloe Kardashian has been hounded on social media following the death of former NFL player OJ Simpson, who died today aged 76 following a battle with prostate cancer.
The reality TV star’s Twitter and Instagram accounts have been flooded with messages of “condolences” from conspiracy theorists who believe unfounded rumours that Simpson is her real father.
“So sorry to hear about your dad. Praying for you and your family in these times,” commented one, while another wrote, “So sorry to hear about your dad passing due to cancer. I can’t imagine what you’re going through.”
“Your real daddy OJ died! Sorry!” another added, while yet another commented, “So sorry to hear of OJ Simpsons passing. I’m sure it will be a sad day for u and ur momma. Any passing of a human is so sad.”
Fans even left their thoughts and prayers on posts Khloé shared while currently on vacation in Turks and Caicos.
“You on vacation and yo daddy done gone to glory!!!” read one comment, while another simply wrote, “It must be a hard day for you today.”
The theory that Simpson is Khloé’s real dad stems back to 2011 when her mum, Kris Jenner, penned the memoir, Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian.
In the book, Kris admitted she had an affair while still married to Khloé’s father, the late Robert Kardashian.
Robert was a well-known California lawyer who was part of the legal team who represented the athlete when he was charged for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. OJ would go on to be acquitted of the murders.
In another Kardashian link, Nicole was best friends with Kris.
Although in her book Kris never revealed the identity of the man she had an affair with during her marriage to Robert from 1978 to 1991, Robert’s second wife Jan Ashley claimed that Khloé wasn’t his biological daughter.
“Khloé is not his kid — he told me that after we got married,” Jan alleged in a 2012 interview with Star magazine, nine years after Robert’s death.
“He just kind of looked at me and said [it] like it was a matter of fact. He said, ‘Well, you know that Khloé’s not really a Kardashian, don’t you? And I said … ‘OK,’ and that was it.”
Robert’s third wife Ellen Ellen Pierson, who he married two months before he died from cancer in 2003, also told the magazine, “Khloé brought it up all the time. She looked nothing like the rest. She was tall, had a different shape, light hair, curly hair. Didn’t look anything like the other three children.”
Both OJ and Khloé have vehemently denied the rumours, with the former athlete setting the record straight on the Full Send podcast back in 2022.
“People have their types, right? I always thought Kris was a cute girl,” he said on the episode. “She was really nice. But I was dating supermodels.”
“The rumour ain’t true. It’s not even anywhere close to being true,” he added. “I’ve never been attracted to her and I never suspected she was ever attracted to me, so that was never the case.”
In a 2016 episode of her now-cancelled talk show Cocktails With Khloé, she hit back at her father’s third wife, Ellen, for questioning her paternity and talking ill of her late dad.
“She wanted to come out, like, 10 years later after my dad passed away and said that I’m not his daughter and that he confided in her,” Khloé said on air.
“I was like, ‘Listen, you can talk about me and my sisters all you f***ing want.’ Do not talk about my dad. … He’s not here!”
