Britney Spears made a cryptic Instagram post in the wake of her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s arrest for driving while intoxicated, and fans are convinced she was referring to the fellow singer.
On Tuesday, Timberlake was arrested for a DUI after reportedly running a stop sign and “swerving” while driving.
In what some on social media have deemed Spears’ response to Timberlake’s embarrassing incident, the singer posted a picture of a cocktail on Instagram a few hours later alongside a rather telling caption.
She wrote: “It’s the little things you know.”
Shortly afterwards, Britney posted one of her iconic dancing videos from her hotel room, gleefully showing off some new outfits and seeming as happy as ever.
Fans shared the post on Twitter, with some suggesting she shared it with a wink and a nudge about Timberlake’s incident.
“She said so much without saying anything,” commented one fan, while another added: “She knew exactly what she was doing with that post.”
In another blow to Timberlake, fans of Spears have started a campaign to get her hit single Criminal back on the charts, and it’s already made it into the Top 100 on iTunes in the US.Timberlake was pulled over in Sag Harbor, New York, just after midnight on Tuesday after allegedly running a stop sign and swerving following dinner with friends at the American Hotel.
According to the criminal complaint, the arresting officer observed Timberlake with “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and noted that he had “a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage … emanating from his breath”.
He was also allegedly “unable to divide attention”, “had slowed speech”, “was unsteady afoot” and “performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests”.
According to the officer, Timberlake also gave the “oral admission”: “I had one martini, and I followed my friends home.”
He allegedly thrice “refused” to take a breathalyser test before being charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and cited for two traffic violations.
The New York Post reports the police officer who arrested the star “so young that he didn’t even know” who Timberlake was, even when told his name.
“He didn’t recognise him or his name,” the insider claimed.
It’s also alleged that Timberlake’s first concerns during his arrest were about his current tour, which started in the US in April and will move to Europe next month. It’s claimed Timberlake said under his breath: “This is going to ruin the tour.”
The policeman reportedly asked, “What tour?” to which the pop star replied, “The world tour.”
