With her comeback attempt flopping, those closest to Lizzo claim she’s obsessed with losing weight and it could spell her downfall.
Lizzo is determined to rid herself of her past, even if that means changing everything about herself that made her so popular originally - and now those closest to her are concerned.
The singer, whose most recent efforts at a comeback have flopped on the charts, is on a weight loss journey as insiders claim she’s determined to become a “beautiful Barbie” like Beyonce.
“By getting skinny and redefining who she is, even the way she acts and dresses, she feels like she is now emerging as this new person and that the drama of her past won’t follow her,” a source told Daily Mail.
However, her dreams of becoming skinny have led to a tumultuous relationship with those she used to be close with.
“She has pushed people who love her away and she is now solely focused on becoming a beautiful black Barbie. She wants to be Beyonce,” continued the source.
The singer, who in 2023 was infamously accused of sexual, racial and religious harassment by four of her former employees, is on a one-woman mission to rebuild her image from the ground up.
“She has done everything that she can to identify as far away from the Lizzo that was accused of doing those inappropriate acts,” said the insider.
The problem is that Lizzo rose to fame by pushing a public persona based around body positivity and hitting out at those who wanted her to lose weight.
“She is determined to have a skinny girl summer,” added the source.
Over the past few months, Lizzo has shown off her slimmed-down figure on social media.
Lizzo, 36, attributes her weight loss to eating healthier and working out.
In September 2024, the controversial denied claims that she was taking prescription drugs to reach her weight loss goal.
Lizzo joked that the allegations were “like a reward” after spending months in the gym.
In December, the singer opened up about the lawsuit brought against her by four of her ex-dancers who made allegations she publicly denied.
“I was literally living my dream, and then the tour ended, and three ex-dancers just completely, like, blindsided me with a lawsuit,” she said.
Lizzo went on to share that while she was “completely surprised” by the legal troubles, she was also “very deeply hurt because these were three ex-dancers, so they weren’t on the tour. They didn’t finish the tour out with us. But even regardless of that, these were people that I gave opportunities to.”
She added: “These were people that, I liked them and appreciated them as dancers, respected them as dancers. So I was like, ‘What?’ But then I heard all the other things like sexual harassment, and I was like, they’re trying well, I don’t know what they’re trying to do, but these are the types of things that the media can turn into something that it’s not.”
