‘Good riddance’: Trump brutally fires ally

The US president has sacked one of his closest allies and one of the few women in his cabinet after her handling of the Epstein files.

Donald Trump has sacked US Attorney-General Pam Bondi – just weeks after he pushed out another senior woman in his cabinet.

The US president was reportedly angry at Ms Bondi’s handling of the Epstein files as well as a lack in progress at his demands that his political enemies be prosecuted.

Ms Bondi said it had been an “honour” to hold the role. But a leading Democrat said “good riddance” and accused her of using the US Justice Department a as a “tool of revenge” for Mr Trump.
