A journalist was reporting on the deadly fires that have struck Los Angeles when viewers spotted something bizarre.

An American ABC News anchor has been mercilessly mocked on social media after viewers spotted a bizarre wardrobe detail as he reported on the horror fires in LA.

At least 28,000 structures are believed to be threatened by the fires, with now five people confirmed dead. More than 1000 structures have already been destroyed.

David Muir was surveying the damage in LA for the American ABC News, doing a live report from a devastated street in Palisades when viewers noticed something odd.

“As you can see here behind me,” Muir said as he turned to point to the rubble behind him.

While turned around a wooden clamp was clearly visible on the back of his jacket to those who were watching.

“Nice Jacket Bro. Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothes line pegs, while our city burns to the ground,” Jack Osbourne — son of metal icon Ozzy — wrote in a caption to the video in an X post.

Other viewers also hit out at the star, with some suggesting he was being “narcissistic” for making sure his jacket fit appropriately.

“Another talking head proving that vanity is far more important than the news,” said one.

Another remarked: “Shows you what he is all about and his priorities!”

However, some viewers were baffled by why people seemed too bothered, with some saying the clothes peg was clearly for practical use and made sense for such a report.

“It’s to keep it from flapping around in the wind,” insisted one viewer.

“It’s smart. Keeps it from flapping,” a second chimed in. “I don’t like him much but that’s a good hack…”

Multiple A-list celebrities have lost their homes in terrifying wildfires in Los Angeles that have forced about 100,000 people to flee their homes.

According to the latest reports, actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s $10 million home has been destroyed, with Paris Hilton also shared her heartbreak after losing her beachfront home in Malibu.

In a post to social media, Hilton said she found out her $10.5 million home had burned down through the news.

“This home was where we built so many precious memories. While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family is safe,” Hilton wrote on Instagram about the home, which she bought with husband Carter Reum in June 2021 for $13.5 million.

“The devastation is unimaginable.”
