Lorde battles the flu to perform at the MTV VMA’s

The young Kiwi singer, who has garnered quite the reputation for her peculiar dance style, performed her new single Homemade Dynamite with an interesting interpretative dance featuring absolutely no singing.

But despite the head-scratching performance, turns out Lorde had a pretty good excuse for her fascinating dance number — she was suffering from a ruthless flu.

The 20-year-old singer took to Twitter earlier today to share red carpet photos, revealing she’d been hooked up to an IV before heading to the awards show.
