5 year oldMelania Trump was loudly booed as she addressed an event as part of the White House’s efforts to fight opioid abuse.
The First Lady attended the B’More Youth Summit on Opioid Awareness at University of Maryland Baltimore College.
It was held in Baltimore, Maryland, the same city where President Donald Trump angered many after attacking its Democratic congressman Elijah Cummings, and referring to the city as a “rat and rodent-infested mess”.
His remark prompted the Baltimore Sun newspaper to tell him: “Better to have some vermin living in your neighbourhood than to be one.”
The First Lady was introduced as “somebody who has made it their personal mission to use their platform to make a difference in this particular area, with wellness and addiction and particularly the opioid crisis that we’re living through right now”.
As she took to the stage, she received a mixture of cheers and boos from the mostly high school audience.
