3 year oldActors Kevin Hart and Don Cheadle were sitting down for a heart-to-heart about Hart’s new Peacock series, Hart to Heart, when it all seemed to go very wrong.
A clip has gone viral showing Cheadle explain the “blessing and the curse of” having a demanding job that allows a person to provide for their family.
“We’re very fortunate, obviously, to be able to create these opportunities for ourselves and for our kids and be in a position, for the first time in my family … to have a shot at whatever this generational wealth thing means,” Cheadle says. “But at the same time … I’m 56 years old –”
“Damn!” Hart says, astounded at his age.
Very quickly, Cheadle turns serious and gives Hart a scathing look.
“I’m sorry,” Hart says. “It was a thought, and I blurted it out. I did not mean it that way. I didn’t mean it the way it came out.”
“We’ll take a poll on how you meant it with people here, later, after the show’s over,” Cheadle says. It’s so awkward.
The two argue about the intention of Hart’s “damn”, with Cheadle adding: “If we could play it back right now, these are two different ‘damns’. Do you want me to tell you how you said it? Do you want me to say it back to you how you said it?”
As expected, the internet could not get enough of the extremely awkward exchange.
“Nah this just killed me cuz this is how I be ruining moments,” wrote one Twitter user.
“It’s a good day when my favourite actor @DonCheadle is trending for this hilarity,” another wrote. “That stare!”
Others were opting for blasting Kevin Hart for his rude behaviour, however Cheadle was quick to come to his defence, clarifying that the exchange was all in good fun and totally intentional.
“EVERYBODY, please watch the entire episode,” Cheadle tweeted. “[On] top of understanding that this is just how we play it’s a really good one, I think. The first question he asks me is, ‘Drugs; do you do them?’ In the parking lot I said he looked like a black-o-lantern in that suit. It’s just us.”
