5 year oldLiam Hemsworth is putting his acting career first following his split from wife Miley Cyrus, according to the New York Post.
Hemsworth, 29, took to Instagram to tease the release of his new film Killerman, which opens on Friday in the US.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work everyone did on it,” the Australian star wrote on Instagram, adding, “Blood, sweat and tears were shed from all who were involved.”
Hemsworth stars as Moe Diamond, “a New York City money launderer who wakes up with no memory and millions of dollars in stolen cash and drugs,” according to the plot summary on IMDb.
Earlier this month, Hemsworth confirmed that he and Cyrus, 26, had separated after less than a year of marriage. He filed shortly after for divorce in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences,” TMZ previously reported.
Cyrus’ romance with blogger Kaitlynn Carter has been heating up, after becoming public when an early-August smooch-fest in Italy was caught on camera.
According to a report in US weekly, it was these PDAs that pushed Liam over the edge to file for divorce. “He thought they could work it out, but all those pictures of her and Kaitlynn ended that,” a source said. “Liam comes from a very conservative family and his family was freaked out by it.”
On Monday, Cyrus performed her new break-up ballad, Slide Away, during MTV’s Video Music Awards, after sharing a backstage kiss with 30-year-old Carter. The pair later held hands while entering a VMAs afterparty.
Carter and longtime love Brody Jenner confirmed their break-up in early August.
