Khloe’s secret 9-month engagement revealed

Khloe Kardashian was reportedly secretly engaged to Tristan Thompson just one month before he conceived a child with another woman.

Kardashian, 38, revealed on Thursday’s new episode of The Kardashians, which streams on Disney+, that she rejected Thompson’s first proposal to her in late 2019.

However, People is now reporting the NBA star later popped the question to Kardashian again in February 2021, which she accepted - and they stayed engaged for nine months.

The US reality star made headlines in April that year when she uploaded a photo of a diamond ring on Instagram, however she never confirmed the pair were engaged.

Then in December 2019, the on-again-off-again couple, who share four-year-old daughter True, were plunged into another relationship crisis when it emerged Thompson, 31, welcomed a son that month with fitness instructor Maralee Nichols. Thompson was aware of the baby’s impending birth, but never told Kardashian about it.

In last week’s debut season 2 episode of the famous family’s Hulu reality series, camera crews were present when Kardashian discovered via the media that her fiance was weeks away from becoming a father with another woman.

Viewers then saw Khloe tearily tell her sister, Kim Kardashian, that after months of trying to conceive a child via surrogate, her embryo transfer had finally been successful.

Khloe went on to reveal in a video confessional how betrayed she felt, given Thompson had encouraged her to continue the process of trying for a child, despite knowing he was secretly welcoming a baby with Nichols.

“It’s so close I wouldn’t want anyone to think I did this [pregnancy] after the fact,” she said. “Why would I want to have a baby with someone who’s having a baby with someone else? Because I’m not that much of a sociopath. I’m a lunatic. (But) I’m not deranged.”

Nichols, 31, went on to welcome a son, Theo Thompson, in late December.

In July this year, Kardashian and Thompson welcomed their second child, a son, which was documented on the show. His name is yet to be publicly announced.

“Ever since December, it’s been this dark cloud looming over me,” Kardashian said.

“Every single day, I’ve been feeling depressed and sad, and now that my son is here, I get to move on, and I get to enjoy. It’s almost like I get to close that chapter and be done with this trauma and put it behind me.”
 

Kardashian welcomed True in April 2018, one year after Thompson became a first-time dad to son Prince with his ex-girlfriend, Jordan Craig.

While Kardashian and Thompson split in February 2019 following multiple cheating scandals on his part, including when Kardashian was pregnant with True, they reconciled later that year.

Thompson admitted to having sex with Nichols in March 2021 in court documents, which were publicly released in December that year.

He made a grovelling public apology to Kardashian via Instagram in January.

“Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols,” the NBA star, 30, wrote. “I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established I look forward to amicably raising our son.”

“Khloé, you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years.

“I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think,” he added. “Again, I am so incredibly sorry.”
