The singer’s marriage to husband Jay Z has been under tremendous scrutiny ever since she released her infidelity-themed album Lemonade four days prior to the launch of the tour.
Beyoncé sang “Sorry” with the much-discussed “Becky with the good hair” lyric and other tracks f-rom her new album, as well as her hits including “Drunk In Love,” “Single Ladies,” and “Naughty Girl.”
Talking to the audience about daughter Blue Ivy, Beyoncé shared: “We were driving to rehearsal today and she said ‘Mommy, are we going to your work?’ And it reminded me that I dreamed of this day my whole life.” She then thanked her fiercely loyal Beyhive fanbase. During one costume change, “Purple Rain” by Prince was played to the audience as a big purple screen rotated onstage.
