Jeff Bezos’ TV reporter fiancee Lauren Sanchez has raised eyebrows for showing off her lacy bra at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Welcome to our live coverage of the official inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States.
For all the pomp, parade and politics, you can follow our US correspondents on the ground in Washington D.C., who are filing live updates here.
For those who are more interested in which celebrities are attending, who’s performing, and any gossipy moments from Capitol Hill, this article is your safe place.
We didn’t have a provocative outfit at a presidential inauguration on our bingo card, but Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sanchez, a former TV reporter, has caused a stir for flaunting a visible lacy bra.
Sanchez, 55, who shot to notoriety as an entertainment reporter on Extra and later Fox Sports, became engaged to the billionaire businessman in May 2023 after three years of dating.
The pair earlier embarked on an extramarital affair in 2018, which led Bezos, 61, to his divorce his wife MacKenzie Scott, whom he was with for 25 years.
Viewers watching from home took to social media to question why Sanchez opted for such a daring look at a formal event.
“Why is Jeff Bezos wife dressed so provocatively for such a formal occasion,” one wrote.
“Jeff Bezos future wife Lauren Sanchez is incredibly inappropriately dressed for a state occasion. Someone should have told her that having her white lace bra out on display is not acceptable,” another said.
“Jeff Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sanchez wears white lingerie top as she attends Trump’s Inauguration,” a third wrote.
“Good grief, Lauren Sanchez,” a fourth added.
In terms of the biggest headline act for today’s formalities, Mr Trump’s camp managed to rally a fairly big name to perform America The Beautiful.
Former American Idol winner and country music star Carrie Underwood is set to take the stage to deliver the traditional inauguration patriotic song, previously sung by Jennifer Lopez for Joe Biden’s swearing-in in 2021.
While no JLo, Underwood is a significant get compared to Mr Trump’s 2017 inauguration, in whichThe Tabernacle Choir delivered the song.
“I love our country and am honoured to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said in a statement last week.
“I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
There’s been somewhat of a groundswell of support for Mr Trump among celebrities in recent days.
Snoop Dogg – a longtime critic of Mr Trump – surprised fans when he hit the stage at the president elect’s Crypto Ball at the weekend, while Nelly copped backlash for agreeing to perform at the inauguration.
Elsewhere, opera singer Christopher Macchio is poised to sing the all-important national anthem.
As for Australians, Foreign Minister Penny Wong is understood to be attending alongside Kevin Rudd, Australia’s ambassador to the US.
Billionaires Gina Rinehart and Anthony Pratt also scored an invite.
While the inauguration typically takes place in front of the US Capitol, it’s been moved indoors due to the unusually cold forecast.
Meteorologists predict it’ll be the coldest inauguration day in 40 years.
