One of Donald Trump’s family members and most trusted advisers appears to no longer be in the former president’s inner circle.

He was once one of Donald Trump’s most trusted advisers, but now the former president’s son-in-law seems to have drifted away from his inner-circle.

Jared Kushner, the husband of Mr Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, was noticeably absent from the list of those assisting the former president ahead of his recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech, according to CNN.

Several sources who worked closely with Mr Kushner when he served as Mr Trump’s chief adviser, told the publication he “checked out” after his father-in-law’s devastating election loss.

“Right now, he’s just checked out of politics,” one person said.

This is not the first time Mr Kushner has appeared to distance himself from Mr Trump, with the 40-year-old noticeably absent during times when the former president’s image was taking a hit.

In 2017, when Mr Trump’s healthcare plan flopped, Mr Kushner and his family headed for a holiday in Aspen, Colorado instead of dealing with the fallout.

Similarly, in 2018 they headed on another vacation to Florida during the government shutdown.

A person close to Mr Kushner said his absence was due to him wanting to spend “some much needed time with his family”.

However, another inside source suggested the former president had instigated the distance between him and his son-in-law, reportly telling those close to him that he is angry with Mr Kushner.

The biggest sign that Mr Kushner had been pushed from the inner circle came after he was left out of the new “political brain trust” put together by Mr Trump to work on his upcoming political goals.

“That’s about as 180 a turn as he could ever make,” a source who worked in the White House with Mr Kushner told CNN.

“This was a guy who for four years did everything on behalf of President Trump. He lived that job.”

Mr Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, also appears to have taken a step back from the political world after working for her father as a senior adviser during his presidency.

The 39-year-old and her family are currently renting a luxury residence at the Arte Surfside — just one hour from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort — as they wait for their new $US32 million ($A41 million) property in Indian Creek Island to be ready to move in to.

Ivanka appears to be enjoying her new relaxing life, and has been pictured reclining on her balcony with a book, grabbing smoothies, donning tennis whites and enjoying a trip to a local alligator park.

Recently she and her family were snapped enjoying a day out on a boat in Miami’s Biscayne Bay.

And it appears Ivanka isn’t planning on giving up her abundance of free time just yet after recently shutting down one of the avenues for her rumoured entry into politics.

There were rumours that Ivanka had been considering mounting a primary challenge against Florida Senator Marco Rubio in 2022.

But according to Politico, Ivanka told Mr Rubio earlier this year she would not be running against him.

“Ivanka offered her support for Marco’s re-election and they had a great talk,” a Rubio spokesperson told the publication, adding that they would look to host a joint event highlighting their support for expanding the child tax credit.

Ivanka’s recent laid back attitude is in stark contrast to her father, who is already said to be planning his next big political move.

Mr Trump made his first formal public appearance since leaving office last weekend, addressing CPAC in Orlando, Florida.

The audience of conservative activists greeted him with a standing ovation, and later chanted, “You won!” at the former president, who spent much of the speech repeating his false claims about the 2020 election.

He also came armed with a new list of political enemies, telling his supporters to “get rid of” the Republicans who voted in favour of his impeachment last month.

“Hello CPAC. Do you miss me yet? Do you miss me?” Mr Trump asked as he began his speech. The crowd roared in response.

“I stand before you today to declare that the incredible journey we began together — we went through a journey like nobody else. There’s never been a journey like it. There’s never been a journey so successful.

“We began it together four years ago, and it is far from being over.

“For the next four years, the brave Republicans in this room will be at the heart of the effort to oppose the radical Democrats, the fake news media and their toxic cancel culture.

“I am going to continue to fight right by your side. We will do what we’ve done right from the beginning, which is to win.”
