Kendrick, in Ye's eyes, also has "no hits."
The artist formerly known as Kanye West had more to say about Kendrick Lamar and Drake in an interview with Akademiks during which he wore black Ku Klux Klan-style attire after greeting the streamer at the door in a Sean John t-shirt and swastika chain. The interview, which arrived via Rumble and X over the weekend, comes after a slew of preposterous Nazism-focused social media updates from Ye, who at one point in Kendrick and Drake’s 2024-dominating feud appeared to take his previous tour partner’s side.
“Why do they want somebody with no hits like Kendrick to do the Super Bowl?” Ye, who earlier this year wrote both “I’m a Nazi” and “After further reflection I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a Nazi” on the Elon Musk-headed cesspool once known as Twitter, told Akademiks in the newly released interview.
"... they want a Drake to be outta there, why do they want somebody with no hits like Kendrick to do the Superbowl..."

Later, Ak asked Ye to define “the real thing” between him and Drake, noting that he was “confused’ by what has transpired over the years.
“It’s like family members that you don’t fuck with,” Ye said. “One thing is, Drake is a million times better than Kendrick and a million times more important.”

From there, Ye seemingly argued that Kendrick’s 2022 album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is a “direct copy” of his own The Life of Pablo from 2016, though he later asserted—while still in the hood and robe—that he doesn’t “really have a problem” with Kendrick, who earlier in his career opened for Ye on the Yeezus Tour.
“I don’t really have a problem with Kendrick,” he said. “I would never call Kendrick a f****t, you know what I’m saying? I don’t like what happened with the song and that whole idea. I don’t like how they used Kendrick. And also, I don’t like him saying he’s the No. 1 because I’m the No. 1.”
Asked about the widespread interpretation that this amounts to mere jealousy, Ye ultimately agreed, citing the behavior of the purported higher power as depicted in the Bible.

“Y’all don’t go to church?” Ye asked. “God is an angry god. God is a jealous god. What are you talking about? I’m the closest thing to God on earth and I act just like how God acts.”
Deeper into the interview, Ye said directly, “Yes, I was jealous that Kendrick is on Carti’s album,” a reference to Kendrick’s trio of appearances on Playboi Carti’s MUSIC, which recently landed a second week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Carti, notably, recently directed an X-shared “STFU” at Ye. Kendrick, meanwhile, has thus far not responded to any of this. In April, he'll launch a stadium run with SZA.
