Shouting “Down, Down, USA,” dozens of protesters broke into the American embassy compound in Baghdad on Tuesday in a tense demonstration against recent U.S. airstrikes that killed 25 fighters of an Iran-backed militia in Iraq.

Shouting “Down, Down, USA,” dozens of protesters broke into the American embassy compound in Baghdad on Tuesday in a tense demonstration against recent U.S. airstrikes that killed 25 fighters of an Iran-backed militia in Iraq.

The group, including Iraqi Shiite militiamen and many supporters, smashed a main door and set fire to a reception area, sparking tear gas and gunfire just feet away from the main building.
