Israel Calls for Gaza Evacuations After US Urges Restraint

Israel asks residents of south Gaza to evacuate some areas

Israel called for the evacuation of parts of Gaza where it says Hamas leaders are hiding, an indication it plans to intensify strikes in the south of the Palestinian enclave.

The Israel Defense Forces on Sunday instructed Palestinians to abandon areas near Khan Younis, the southern city where Israel believes top Hamas militants are ensconced.
