‘VERY NEAR FUTURE’: Trump’s surprise move with European leader
US President Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni released a joint statement on Friday morning after their meeting on Thursday in Washington. The leaders “confirmed their resolve to promote a mutually beneficial relationship and further strengthen the US-Italy strategic alliance across security, economic, and technological issues.”
Mr Trump accepted Ms Meloni’s invitation to visit Italy in the “near future” pointing to the possibility of a meeting between US and European leaders.
