8 year oldBryan Robinson, a 14-year NFL veteran defensive lineman, was found dead on Saturday night in a motel room in Milwaukee. He was 41 years old.
Milwaukee police are investigating it as a sudden death, and there are no signs of trauma or anything suspicious, according to the Chicago Tribune. Robinson was found at Midpoint Motel and pronounced dead at 10:17 p.m., the Tribune said.
Robinson's NFL career was best known for his six seasons with the Chicago Bears, although he also played for the Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams.
Robinson's most famous NFL moment was a blocked field goal in a 1999 game at the Green Bay Packers the week Wal-ter Payton died. That block clinched a 14-13 win, and Robinson added to the mystique of that play by mentioning Payton afterward.
“I think Wal-ter Payton actually picked me up a little bit and boosted me up in the air because I can't jump that high,” Robinson said after that game, according to the Tribune. “Wal-ter had a lot to do with it. I know he did.”
Robinson was a solid, reliable interior presence during his 14 NFL seasons, registering 24 sacks. Robinson, who played in college at Fresno State, played in a total of 207 NFL games f-rom 1997-2010. He was a part of the Cardinals' NFC championship team in 2008 and played in Super Bowl XLIII against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
