CBS News is trimming its workforce "to make room for the things [it] must build to remain competitive," according to a memo obtained by Business Insider. The downsizing will affect 6% of staff, roughly 70 people, Variety reports, citing an anonymous source. The network will also shut down its CBS News Radio service, which provides programming to 700 stations, in May. Editor-in-chief Bari Weiss alluded to potential cuts in a town hall at the start of the year, saying she wants to attract a younger, more digitally focused audience.
