Google Drive Outage: Thousands Flag Problems Wednesday Afternoon

Google said it is investigating the cause of an issue after thousands of users reported problems with Google Drive and other services Wednesday afternoon, complaining about server connections, file access and website access.

Key Facts

Reports started bring made on Downdetector, a website that trackers user-reported problems, just after noon EST on Wednesday and, by 1 p.m., there were more than 2,800 users reporting problems with Google Drive.

Hundreds more had reported problems with the Google search engine, Google Sheets and Google Docs, and there were dozens of reports about Google Workspace, the cloud computing and collaboration tools used by millions of companies worldwide.

Google at 1:45 p.m. said it was "investigating access issues" with Google Drive, Google Sheets and Google Docs that began around noon.

The Google Workspace status dashboard said that there is currently no workaround available.
