Warriors-Thunder Game 7 Is Cable’s Most Watched NBA Telecast Ever With 16M Viewers On TNT

Monday night’s NBA Western Conference Finals Game 7 was one for record boks. With 15.9 million total viewers and an 8.8 household rating on TNT, it’s the most-viewed NBA cable telecast of all time and the most-watched program in TNT’s 28-year history, based on Fast Nationals. Led by NBA MVP Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ 96-88 comeback win to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder victory peaked with 19.8 million total viewers and a 10.9 U.S. HH rating f-rom 11:15-11:30 PM ET.

TNT logoThe series decider also was the most-watched non-Finals NBA game on any broadcast or cable network since 2000 and the most-watched sports program on cable since the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Game drew 17.8M in April on TNT, TBS and truTV.

TNT scored nightly wins across all of cable television each night of its coverage of the Western Conference Finals, in which the defending champion Warriors fought back f-rom a 3-1 series deficit to make the Finals. Together with Inside the NBA, TNT registered the top two programs on cable six times during the seven-game series — twice spanning both cable and broadcast.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors, which set an NBA record for wins this season, and LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers tips off at 6 PM PT Thursday on ABC. The same teams matched up in last year’s Finals, which Golden State won four games to two for its first title in 40 years.
