8 year oldThe New York Post reports that Christy Sheats killed her and husband Jason’s two daughters, Taylor, 22, and Madison, 17 in the middle of the street.
Family friend Madison Davey told KTRK that after the deadly rampage she had spoken to Jason Sheats, who admitted that he had challenged his wife during their deadly altercation.
“He told Christy, ‘Just shoot yourself. Make it easy on all of us, just shoot yourself,’ and she said, ‘No, that’s not what this is about, this is about punishing you,’” Ms Davey told the station.
“I always knew something would happen, but I never thought she would do this. Christy was toxic for the family. She was mentally unstable,” Ms Davey added.
Jason and Christy Sheats had argued that day before the mum called a “family meeting” and then reached for a gun she had hidden in the couch.
On this particular day, she asked him to say ‘sorry’ for this argument. He said, ‘Don’t threaten me like that. Don’t say those things to me,’ ” Ms Davey said. “And then she says ‘OK, I’ll call a family meeting.’”
Brandishing a five-shot .38 Calibre gun, Christy Sheats pumped several bullets into her daughters Taylor, 22, and Madison, 17, in the street — and even went back inside her house to reload so she could finish off Taylor.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to the chaotic scene fatally shot the mum, who had a history of mental illness.
Police from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office had been called to the Sheats home on 14 separate occasions since 2012.
Ms Davey told KTRK that the daughters had a very close relationship with one another and their father.
“He was the best dad ever. I would hang out with him and he loved being around us. And they were so funny — for sisters, you would think they would fight, but no,” Ms Davey said. “They loved each other a lot and were always laughing.”
A funeral for both sisters is expected to take place later this week in Alabama.
“He (Jason Sheats) would do anything to protect them and he tried to, but Christy was out to kill that day,” Ms Davey said.
