Jennifer Lopez has reportedly been given some hard-to-swallow advice from her close pals following the news she’s divorcing Ben Affleck.
Those closest to the star are thought to be concerned that Lopez isn’t focusing on what’s good for her when it comes to her love life.
A source close to the star told Mail Online that those close to Lopez are “growing tired” of her chaotic love life.
The source went on to claim that there was a reason why Lopez waited so long to file, despite reports of the split first emerging months ago.
“Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and she waited until the two year anniversary because she wanted to sting,” said the insider.
“But it did not sting him. He’s been done for a long time and deep down she knows this. He let her have this so that she wouldn’t look like the villain.”
The singer and actress officially filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Thursday.
However, a detail in the paperwork showed that the listing for their date of separation was April 26 which means the couple had not been together for nearly four months.
Despite the secret split, they put on a united front with their blended family — Lopez’s 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, and Affleck’s children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
On occasion, Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, would attend their children’s end-of-year school events together, although they would arrive and leave the events in separate cars.
The duo were first engaged in 2002, only to break off their engagement in 2004. They reconnected again in 2021 before tying the knot twice in 2022: Once was a quickie Las Vegas wedding and the other; at a lavish affair at Affleck’s estate in the US state of Georgia.
“This is heaven. Right here. We’re in it now,” Lopez wrote in her newsletter to fans at the time. “He also said it the night of our wedding reception in his speech, and I thought … how perfect.”
“We had both been married before and we aren’t exactly kids any more but somehow now seemed like the only age that made sense … for us, this was perfect timing.”
