Nicola Peltz-Beckham has revealed why she didn’t attend her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham’s lavish 50th birthday party.
The event was held in London, and all five Spice Girls turned up. While Mel C and Mel B managed to make it, the billionaire heiress, was unfortunately unable to attend.
Well, she was still kind of there. Victoria and David Beckham’s eldest son and Nicola’s husband, Brooklyn, was front and centre. He has over 70 tattoos in tribute to his wife, including an unflattering portrait of her face.
She didn’t turn up at the event, but Nicola wrote on Instagram that she was “so sad” not to be there.
While she didn’t make the celebration, A-listers like Salma Hayek and Tom Cruise did.
So where was Nicola? She was hanging out with her nan, the maid of honour, at her wedding to Brooklyn.
She posted a tribute to Victoria on Instagram, saying, “I love you so much and love being your dance partner forever.”
“I love you so much,” Victoria replied, adding a generous amount of kisses to the message.
Instagram messages aside, Nicola’s absence follows longstanding rumours that she doesn’t get along with Victoria, mainly stemming from her not wearing one of Victoria’s designs for her wedding dress.
Nicola wore a Valentino dress on her wedding day instead, making rumours swirl that perhaps the two didn’t get along.
It certainly didn’t help that, when Nicola tried to clear up the rumours in an interview with Grazia, she said that Victoria was originally going to design her wedding dress until she just couldn’t.
“We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by, and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mum and said her atelier couldn’t make it,” she said.
She also said that the rumours that she doesn’t get along with Victoria “hurt her feelings”, and Brooklyn even chimed in with his two cents: “My wife is obviously my first priority, and I never want to see her upset.”
Nicola’s already had a busy year. She had her directorial debut with her movie Lola, but sadly, she cut Brooklyn from the film.
It was quite the move because anyone who has heard of Brooklyn would know that he has had a few career changes in his time.
He has had a crack at cooking, photography and modelling, and his acting career seems to have already reached a screeching halt.
What was Brooklyn’s great crime? He could not even nail a one-word line without stuffing it up.
“He had one line, ‘Hi,’ but he kept saying it in a British accent, and he was staring directly into the camera. I was like, ‘Oh God, we have to move on, good lord’,” she said
