3 year oldDemi Lovato has spoken candidly about the 2018 overdose that almost killed her ahead of the release of her new documentary, revealing she suffered three strokes, a heart attack and has lasting brain damage.
The 28-year-old singer is set to launch YouTube special, Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil next month, and has elaborated on the incident in teasers for the film.
In the trailer, she said: “I had three strokes. I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes.”

Elsewhere, she told reporters she was left with brain damage which she still deals with the effects of to this day.
“I don’t drive a car, because I have blind spots on my vision. And I also for a long time had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read out of a book, which was like two months later because my vision was so blurry,” she said according to People.

Lovato has spoken about her addiction to drugs and alcohol in the past, but according to the trailer for the explosive new doco, there is still much the wider world does not know about her overdose.
Within the trailer, a number of her friends are recorded expressing disbelief that Lovato is choosing to share the intricate details of her life and the overdose that almost ended it.
While Lovato tells the camera early on in the snippet that they can “cut out” whatever it is they don’t want her to say, friends and family all seem stunned by how off-limits the interviews are. One friend even asks: “Are we talking about heroin? Are we doing that?”

In 2018, the former Disney star was found unconscious in her Hollywood home having overdose on a reported mix of opioids and fentanyl.
It came just weeks after she had debuted a song called Sober in which she sang about relapsing after being alcohol and drug-free for six years.
Speaking in her new documentary, she said: “For the past couple of years, I’ve heard a lot of stories about my life and what people think has happened. I wanted to set the record straight and reveal it all for my fans.”
Lovato has previously shared that she started taking cocaine when she was 17, and first entered rehab when she was 18. She was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and has opened up about suffering from eating disorders in the past.
In September last year, Lovato made headlines when her two-month engagement to Max Ehrich ended abruptly.
Speaking to People, a source said: “It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers.
“They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.”
The news come after tension arose between the couple when news came out that Ehrich had sent out tweets to Demi’s nemesis, Selena Gomez.
While Demi defended her fiance, saying the tweets were fake, a bunch more thirsty tweets from Ehrich reaching out to the likes of Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and even Stella Maxwell came out.
Ehrich later said he found out their engagement had come to an end through a tabloid.
Dancing With The Devil is due to be released on YouTube on 23 March.
