4 year oldKobe Bryant's 13-year-old daughter Gianna was also aboard the helicopter that crashed and killed all five people, including the NBA legend, outside Los Angeles on Sunday, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports' Mark Medina.
The person, who was granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the matter, said Gianna and her father were en route to an AAU basketball game Sunday morning when the helicopter crashed.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, which left all five passengers dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The Sikorsky S-76 went down in Calabasas, California, a city about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
Gianna, who was often referred to as "GiGi," was the second oldest of Bryant's four daughters, who range in age from 17 years to seven months old. Bryant had coached Gianna's AAU team
out of his Mamba Sports Academy training facilityin Thousand Oaks for the past two years.
