Jason Momoa has quietly split from actress Eiza González

For the second time this year, Jason Momoa is back on the market.

The Aquaman actor and his rumoured girlfriend, Mexican actress Eiza González, have reportedly broken up after dating for just four months, New York Post reports.

“They’re just very different people,” a source told People.

However, a second insider shared with the magazine that Momoa, 42, and González, 32, are “hoping they might work it out”.

“They love each other very much, having dated quietly for some time before it became public,” the insider explained. “[But] they are in different life stages.”

The pair reportedly began dating in February, one month after Momoa announced his separation from estranged wife Lisa Bonet.

Momoa was even pictured attending the LA premiere of González’s movie Ambulance in April, though the two didn’t walk the red carpet together.

“Right now it’s not a very serious situation and they’re both just seeing where it goes,” a source told People in May, claiming the duo were dating “exclusively” after “meeting through work and mutual connections”.

“They’ve been spending time together when they can and making it work between their two busy schedules,” the source said at the time.

The source said González shares “the same spirit” as Momoa and is a “very fun, down-for-anything type person and is pretty adventurous for the most part”.

“She’s more of a long-term-relationship person versus casual dater. [Momoa is] a really good guy, very generous and happy all the time; he’s all about love and spreading love,” the source said.
 

The insider noted, however, that the Game of Thrones alum was “not going to rush into” a new relationship given his split from Bonet, 54, was still fresh.

“It’s not that he’s not taking it seriously, but with his kids, he’s not going to rush into anything quickly,” they said, referencing his daughter, Lola, 14, and son, Nakoa-Wolf, 13, who he shares with Bonet.

Momoa and Bonet released a joint statement in January announcing they were “parting ways in marriage” four years after they said “I do”.
 

“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become,” they said in the statement.

“Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life … teaching our children what’s possible. Living the prayer. May love prevail J & L.”
