Fears for Ben Affleck amid Jennifer Lopez ’split’ rumours: ‘Really troubled’

The actor has battled alcoholism and a gambling addiction for decades, admitting in 2020 that it had taken him “a long time to fundamentally, deeply, without a hint of doubt, admit to myself that I am an alcoholic.”Now, according to the Daily Mail, those closest to the actor believe he is suffering from “acute sadness” either “at risk” of relapsing, or is already drinking again.

“I hear that he is drinking. He is full of demons – a really troubled person,” one source told the publication, with another adding that those who care about him have felt “real worry.”

Affleck first sought treatment for alcoholism in 2001 and had two rehab stints, in 2017 and then again the following year.

Meanwhile, the Mail also claims that Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez, initially encouraged her daughter to reunite with Affleck, but has since “turned against” him – and that the singer’s manager, Benny Medina, “openly dislikes” him.

Lopez and Affleck initially dated from 2002 until 2004, reuniting in 2021 and tying the knot a year later.

It was reported last month that Affleck had moved out of the couple’s $60 million mansion and was living in a $100,000-a-month rental.

Shortly afterwards, Lopez issued a statement that she was cancelling her entire tour, citing the need to spend time with “her children, family, and close friends.” 

However, it was reportedly a last-ditch attempt to salvage the relationship.

“I understand that he has checked out of the marriage but she has yet to accept the truth of the situation and thinks that with therapy they might make it,” a source told the Mail.

The couple’s union has been under the microscope for weeks, fuelled by Lopez’s solo appearance at the Met Gala and the premiere of her new film, Atlas.

Us Weekly recently quoted a source as saying that Lopez and Affleck are “on two completely different pages” now that their honeymoon phase is over.

The outlet claims that the “worn down” actor is “checked out” of the marriage, and “doesn’t agree” with his wife’s “lifestyle”.

Neither of the high-profile stars have addressed the reports about their relationship.
