4 year oldIn a video posted to her Instagram on Friday, a glamorous Serena Williams pouted for the camera as she had her makeup applied, but the accompanying message was more grave in nature.
“Spending the next 6 weeks in solitude. Being a wife. Being a mom. Cooking. Cleaning. Spring cleaning. Face mask. Makeup tutorials. I’ll let you know how it goes … stay safe everyone. This is serious. ”
It is unclear whether or not Williams was alluding to having contracted coronavirus herself, or if her six-week spell of solitude is a precautionary measure.
On Thursday night, Williams appeared on the finale episode of Project Runway in the US, where she was a guest judge alongside fashion PR guru Nina Garcia, journalist Elaine Welteroth, a new judge and new host for the show Karlie Kloss.
The original host of Project Runway, Heidi Klum, who is now a host on America’s Got Talent, had an alarming post of her own on Friday, sharing via Instagram stories that she was feeling unwell but had been unable to obtain a COVID-19 test despite calling two doctors.
Sharing the video from bed, Klum explained why she was absent from her AGT judging seat that week, saying that she had “a chill, feeling feverish, a cough, runny nose … I’m just not feeling good so that’s why I’ve stayed home, to not infect other people.”
“Stay safe everyone, stay at home if you don’t feel good,” Klum said.
Tori Spelling also reported being unwell at home, along with her five children, and “the stores are out of toilet paper and we have seven butts to wipe and no toilet paper to be found.”
Model Emily Ratajkowski has self-quarantined in her New York apartment along with her husband Sebastion Bear-McClard and their German Shepherd puppy, Colombo.
“Finished Love Is Blind (um, wow), ate two frozen pizzas w/ ranch, made calls from bed & took family selfies. Day one of working from home. Also Colombo turns 1 next week how do we celebrate plz comment below,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.
She did not look particularly unhealthy in the photo, in which she pulls down at her waistband to reveal an expanse of her washboard abs.
Orlando Bloom, who had been filming a TV series in Prague, headed back to the US this week to self-quarantine.
The actor posted a video on his Instagram stories on Thursday revealing that he and the cast of his Amazon series Carnival Row were leaving Prague after production was cancelled because of the pandemic.
“Big love everybody, stay safe out there,” Bloom said.
“Self-quarantine. It seems really crazy actually this whole corona thing, but do the right thing by you and your family and stay safe.”
Katy Perry was reportedly heading back to the US from Australia on Friday. After performing at a bushfire benefit concert in Bright, Victoria on Wednesday, she cancelled all media appearances after actor Tom Hanks announced that he and his wife Rita Wilson had contracted coronavirus on Wednesday night. Hanks and Wilson are currently in quarantine in Queensland, where Hanks was shooting the upcoming biopic Elvis, directed by Baz Luhrmann.
NBA legend Charles Barkley also announced he was self-isolating as a precaution, while supermodel Naomi Campbell, a renowned germaphobe, took no chances when flying from Los Angeles to New York this week.
Underneath a chic camel cape, Campbell wore a full hazmat suit, accessorised with a face mask and rubber gloves.
Last year, Campbell posted a video online of her in-flight sanitation routine involving antibacterial wipes, a blanket covering her seat, and wearing a surgical mask long before COVID-19 was a concern.
“This is what I do on every plane I get on,” she explained.
“I do not care what people think of me. It’s my health and it makes me feel better.”
