7 year oldBack in April, Kim Kardashian was spotted flaunting her famous derrière in Mexico.
The 36-year-old star is used to paparazzi shots but wasn’t too happy with the bikini photos that emerged from her girly trip.
Wearing a vintage Dior bikini, Kim’s body appeared to show a bit of cellulite. Completely normal, of course, but the media had a field day.
Now, Kim has responded to the ‘fat-shaming’, claiming that the unflattering photos were Photoshopped to make her look “way worse” than she really did.
Appearing on The View on Tuesday, Kim stated how she was convinced that the images had been edited: “I saw these awful photos of myself when I was on a trip in Mexico and people were Photoshopping them and sharpening them.”
“I definitely was not in my best shape,” she added. “I hadn’t worked out in about 12 weeks, I’d had two surgeries on my uterus.”
She went on to explain how the photos had kickstarted a new fitness and diet regime, saying: “I was already not feeling like myself. When people were making [the photos] look way worse, I was like ‘OK, I’m going to get it together’ and I started working out with this bodybuilder girl.”
Kim said she had been working out for an hour and a half each morning as well as switching to a new diet that involved eating healthy carbs and lots of vegetables.
She also spoke about the pressures of fame and how the incident had made her even tougher when it comes to criticism: “I have thick skin and this isn’t for everyone. I can see why people get hurt and are bothered by it. I do break down at times.”
“It’s not okay for people to say these awful things. For people to have all this keyboard courage to say the craziest things about you is not okay.”
Maybe it’s time for all of us to think before we hit send on that critical comment.
