Former One Direction star has undergone a dramatic transformation, which he showed off on Instagram this week.
The 30-year-old appeared to follow in his bandmate Harry Styles’ footsteps as he unveiled a brand new shaved head look for fans on the social media platform.
The boyband star captioned the snaps: “A new chapter,” and urged people to subscribe to his mailing list so that they could keep up with what he has coming up this year.
Payne becomes the third One Direction member to try out the shaved head look; first came Zayn Malik, and then last November, Harry Styles cut off his beloved hair in a move that left fans stunned.
Payne’s new look comes months after he was rushed to hospital.
The singer fell ill on a trip to Lake Como in Italy with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, reported The Sun.
He was celebrating his one-year anniversary with Cassidy when he fell ill at their property beside the lake. He was rushed to emergency in an ambulance before being checked into a hospital ward for emergency treatment, where he remained for a few days before making a full recovery.
The scare came just weeks after he told fans he had been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, forcing him to cancel his first solo tour.
A source said at the time: “Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be and finally doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on.
“Naturally he is gutted that his and Kate’s trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill.
“Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days. They want to do every test possible to understand the issue fully but they now suspect that there has been an underlying issue for a while that has been getting worse.”
Payne is currently working hard on his second album and is due to release the project at some point later this year.
