8 year oldDemi Lovato took to Twitter on Tuesday night to reveal that she's planning on "taking a break from music and the spotlight" in 2017 and to defend some comments she made about Taylor Swift in the November issue of Glamour. During her interview with Glamour, Lovato said that she doesn't think Swift and her squad represent normal women.
"I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand," Lovato said. "To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real."
Lovato didn't apologize for saying what she said during the Glamour interview, but she did point out that her words are often taken out of context. "Still not apologizing for saying what everyone wanted to say," she tweeted, before adding that she plans on "taking a break" next year due to the backlash that she's received since the interview dropped. What exactly this break will constitute remains to be seen, but it sounds like Lovato is fed up with the drama that comes along with being famous.
Lovato recently finished up the U.S. leg of the Honda Civic Future Now Tour alongsideNick Jonas. She'll continue to play dates in Mexico, Brazil, and the Caribbean through the end of 2016. You can check out the tweets she sent on Tuesday below.
